CKUA’s summer festival celebrations continue as we shine some light on Weayaya, Canada’s first and only solar powered music festival! Weayaya was inaugurated in 2013 to demonstrate the viability of solar power as an alternative energy source, and to promote Alberta talent.

On Sunday, July 12, Tony King transported us, through the magic of radio, to this family-friendly music festival on the banks of the Blindman River. Joining Tony King was Weayaya Solar Powered Music Festival performer and CKUA ukulele choir member Amanda Lemay, who talked about the magic of performing at Weayaya:
