Tom Jackson aims to uplift with Indigenous composers and the CPO

Interview

A new #online series from musician and humanitarian, Tom Jackson, is aiming to uplift communities everywhere through a mix of music, storytelling, dance and visual art.

To help accomplish this, Jackson is joining forces with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and numerous other Canadian creatives. The series, titled The Bear and the Wild Rose, is set to launch its first episode “Love,” with new episodes airing every week thereafter.

Additionally, the series will premiere four new works by Indigenous composers Cris Derksen, Sonny-Ray Day Rider, Jessica McMann and J. Alex Young. Canadian artist, Rita Wildschut is providing art for the series and award-winning Canadian choreographer, Alejandro Ronceria, is handling the choreography.

Tom Jackson joined CKUA’s Lisa Wilton on Traffic Jams at 5:45pm MT, Tuesday, February 1st to talk about this highly collaborative project.
