This might be Mauno’s last radio session

Session

Last month, Mauno shocked fans by announcing they’d be breaking up mere days after releasing a spectacular new LP titled Really Well, produced by Calgary’s Chad Vangaalen. The record quickly made its way to #1 on the CKUA Top 30 Chart shortly after its release, and has since hit the #1 spot on Earshot’s National College Radio Chart.

If you missed the band’s recent tour, you’re not likely to get the chance to catch them performing those new songs live anytime soon. Luckily, CKUA welcomed Mauno for a session and interview at our Calgary Folk Music Festival stage a week before the album dropped. Host Grant Stovel talked to Eliza Niemi and Nick Everett about recording the album with Chad VanGaalen, the bands they were stoked to see at Calgary Folk Fest and the artists who’d been keeping them company in the tour van. The band played four tracks from the new record: “Reeling II”, “Half It”, “Expectations” and “Take Care”.

Recorded July 26, 2019 on location at the Calgary Folk Music Festival.
