Relief sought for COVID-19’s impact on Canada’s Concert Industry

The Canadian Live Music Association is a national organization that represents a broad array of concert promoters, venue owners, operators, and festival planners. 

Since the live music industry in Canada has all but ground to a halt during the current COVID-19 outbreak, the CLMA has been scrambling to assess the impact, and to make recommendations for a way forward. 

Sunday March 15 was supposed to be Canadian music’s biggest night  the gala ceremony for the Juno Awards. Instead, on Sunday the CLMA sent a letter to the Canadian government, with its findings and its recommendations. 

Among other things, the letter states, “If we lose our concert industry,” the letter states, “we lose the heart and soul of who we are as a country.”
