Perpetual Awele Nwaefido, mostly known by her stage name, Perpie, is an active recording and performing saxophonist in Calgary. She’s also the recipient of the 2021 CCIS New Canadian Artist Award (NCAA).
Now, the incredibly talented Nigerian-born artist prepares for a huge show that includes the Key-30 Orchestra, a full 6-piece band and spoken word, on June 4th at NMC’s Studio Bell.
Ije, an Igbo (Nigerian) word for “journey,” is a musical expression of life through Perpie’s eyes, and it will feature music from her new album. Her original compositions incorporate elements of smooth jazz, Afrobeats, and classical music.
