The theatrical production Cottagers & Indians, by award-winning playwright Drew Hayden Taylor, gives a comedic-yet-sincere look at ongoing conflicts between First Nations’ traditional water usage and vacationing cottage owners. The play centers around a funny, fiery exchange between Copper and Poole, ultimately highlighting the absurdity that comes from those types of arguments.
This comedy-fueled social commentary is being put on by Shadow Theatre at Edmonton’s Varscona Theatre and runs until March 27. Recently CKUA’s Tony King invited playwright Drew Hayden Taylor to discuss how his play combines comedy and commentary:
