
“The poems are easy and inhabitable,” says Samuel. “Unifying, but still true depictions of flawed humans, the first poem is of a Cree elder who holds a lot of the women in ceremony around here and she says, ‘My husband loves me even when I’m all four seasons in one day.’ That’s a poem unto itself.”
A portion of the funds for She Was helps other women and non-binary folks access services through the Central Alberta Sexual Assault Centre.
