It’s said that the sun rises in the East, but it actually comes up in a different spot along the horizon every day.
Nowhere is this so well documented as in Luca Vanzella’s A Year Of Sunrises, a collection of 13 images that capture the sun peeking above the horizon every month, from December 2020 to December 2021. The resulting compilation image is so arresting it caught NASA’s attention, and was featured on a global stage as their “Astronomy Picture of the Day” for January 5th.
Tony King recently spoke with Luca Vanzella about how an infinite curiosity in exploring what’s out there inspired him as a kid to become an amateur astronomer with a keen eye for capturing celestial events.
