On Dance: Ballet Edmonton presents REMEO

Interview

Ballet Edmonton builds on their fascinating, provocative canon of work by presenting three riveting contemporary pieces to open their 2022-2023 season.

This small but feisty company, led by Canadian choreographer Wen Wei Wang, will feature their latest work, October 14 & 15 at the Triffo Theatre on the MacEwan Campus in Edmonton. Collectively, the pieces under the umbrella of REMEO dive into themes of cultural and generational alienation, while exploring tension and common ground through movement. Wen Wei’s magnificent piece Swan opens the show, reimagining the classic story in the context of contemporary movement, serving as an allegory that fuses past and present, thereby exposing the fragility of beauty and strength.

Ballet Edmonton has just announced a national tour and an invitation to present four pieces on the National Arts Center Southam Hall stage in Ottawa, indicative of a company fused with uncontainable energy and a bright future.
