On Comedy: Ali Hassan asks “Does this taste funny?”

Interview

If, as the old adage suggests, “you are what you eat,” well then, Ali Hassan is a veritable smorgasbord.

If you don’t think you know Ali Hassan, you might want to think again. He has hosted the Canada Reads competition for six years running and has appeared in recent television productions, Working Moms, Run The Burbs, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and many other programs. Ali Hassan can be heard as host of Laugh Out Loud, and has just published a memoir entitled Is There Bacon in Heaven?

Consider that this renowned comedian, actor and radio personality, got his start in some of the most gourmet kitchens in the country, not serving up laughs, but rather having a hand in preparing patron’s Foie gras Maison, or Heirloom Tomato Tartin.

It is this experience in the food industry that “serves,” perhaps pun intended, as a catalyst for Ali Hassan’s one-man comedy show Does this taste funny? He’s bringing that show to Western Canada, with a total of three stops in Alberta! They say laughter is the best medicine, so what better place to get some laughs than in Medicine Hat on March 15! He then follows up that show with a stop in Airdrie on March 19 and, lastly, March 20 sees him swing by Sherwood Park’s Festival Place.

Ali Hassan joins CKUA’s Tony King, ahead of his Alberta shows, to talk food, laughs, and life on Thoroughfare.

Listen to Ali Hassan’s request, Sound of da Police by KRS-ONE.
