Wordfest has some blockbuster events lined up for the month of October. Wordfest CEO & Creative Ringleader Shelley Youngblut recently brought us a preview of three exciting Wordfest talks, including her upcoming conversation with Jonathan Franzen and his new book Crossroads, described as “a novel in which a family, in all the intricacy of its workings, is truly at the centre.” Other Wordfest events include talks by Chris Hadfield and Torrey Peters with Casey Plett.
Chris Hadfield’s space-based thriller The Apollo Murders, is set in 1973 during a top-secret mission to the moon. Torrey Peters bestselling book Detransition, Baby focuses on three women—transgender and cisgender—whose live collide after an unexpected pregnancy. Casey Plett’s latest A Dream of a Woman, is a poignant short story collection that centres on transgender women.
