Art, nature, architecture in the NFB short film ‘Roundup’

Interview

Having made a number of feature films in her career, acclaimed Vancouver-based filmmaker Nettie Wild‘s newest offering comes in at a compact 3:17.

Roundup portrays the autumn journey of 4000 cattle to a communal pasture and coral in Dawson Creek, B.C.

Tony King had a chance to talk with Nettie about making a film that is big in scope, artfully presented, and has profound implications:

If you can spare three minutes, this is a beautiful piece that pays homage to a lifestyle that is not without the underpinnings of darkness.

The film was shot by acclaimed Calgary-based cinematographer Patrick McLaughlin and can be seen below or on the NFB website.
