Music Therapy at The National Music Centre

There are many ways to help relieve stress and anxiety—exercise , massage, and meditation are just a few of them. But music also has an incredible impact on our mental health.

Coinciding with Music Therapy Awareness Month, The National Music Centre in Calgary is launching two new music therapy drop-in programs. The mental and physical rejuvenation programs, in collaboration with JB Music Therapy, start March 19 at the NMC’s Studio Bell and will run until June 11. The sessions are broken up into two separate programs, FunDrum and HealthSong. The drop-in sessions are open to all, but are said to be ideal for those navigating various life transitions.

On Tuesday’s Traffic Jams, CKUA’s Lisa Wilton is joined by the President of JB Music Therapy, Jennifer Buchanan, to talk about the upcoming music therapy initiative:
