Meet Titilope Sonuga, Edmonton’s New Poet Laureate

This month, Titilope Sonuga was named Edmonton’s ninth poet laureate.

The 35-year-old Nigerian-Canadian author, spoken word performer, actor, and playwright has written three poetry collections, and has been involved in global ad campaigns with the World Health Organization, Google, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

On the Monday, June 28, 2021 epsiode of Alberta Morning, Grant Stovel spoke with Sonuga about her project Cathedral of Tenderness, which aims to shares stories of hope from Edmontonians.
