Margaret Glaspy has proved herself mercurial and challenging to define musically, but through her decade-long career in the business, cultivating persona’s like “girl with a guitar,” to ingénue, the one thing that has remained constant is her wide-eyed irreverence. Imagine then, sitting down with this amazingly talented artist, who has consistently projected an edge sharper than a Henckels knife, and finding her in a state of bliss.

Tony King had a conversation with Margaret Glaspy out front of her appearance in Calgary on Friday night as part of the Block Heater Festival. Among other things they talk about influences, musical and otherwise, parsing the private person with the performer, and just how does one take classes at the prestigious Berkley School of Music without paying:
