Hailing from New Brunswick and based in Montreal these days, Lisa LeBlanc is a bilingual singer-songwriter who’s been on the road relentlessly for the past decade or so. Her latest album, Why You Wanna Leave, Runaway Queen? features everything from Acadian music influences to brash country-rock diatribes to a banjo-led Motorhead cover. The album was shortlisted for the 2017 Polaris Music Prize, up against giants like Leonard Cohen, Gord Downie, and one of Lisa’s biggest heroes, Feist. She talks about the experience and the wide variety of influences she brings to her latest album.
