Love Lives Here is the brand-new documentary about the Juno Award-winning rock band July Talk. The film is centered around two concerts performed at an old drive-in theatre north of Toronto in August 2020, which were the first pandemic-era rock shows of their kind in Canada.
Documentary filmmaker and passionate music aficionado Brittany Farhat has long been capturing July Talk’s live shows on film, and her feature-length debut Love Lives Here conveys a full-bodied portrait of this unique ensemble. It’s a snapshot of how this powerfully creative group of musicians is driven to connect with its audience and share a message of hope and humanity, against all odds.
Plus, through the artful use of archival performance footage, intimate behind-the-scenes access, and candid interviews, the film presents a retrospective glimpse into this remarkable band’s entire creative arc, from the very first meeting of co-lead singers Leah Fay and Peter Dreimanis, right up to the present day.
Fresh off its premiere at Toronto’s Hot Docs Film Festival, Love Lives Here receives its Alberta premiere on Saturday, June 24th, 2023 in Peter’s original hometown of Edmonton. The screening is presented by NorthWestFest at Metro Cinema.
