Joshua Whitehead, Indigiqueer Futurism and Wordfest’s 25@25


Joshua Whitehead is a critically acclaimed Two-Spirit Oji-Cree author from Peguis First Nations in Manitoba. His book Jonny Appleseed was long-listed for the prestigious Giller Prize two years ago.

He is the editor of a recently published collection of stories called Love After the End: An Anthology of Two-Spirit and Indigiqueer Speculative Fiction.

CKUA’s Lisa Wilton recently spoke with Joshua prior to his online Wordfest event, and asked him about the appeal of futurism in Indigenous fiction, and how he got involved with the anthology:
