Edmonton-based transgender singer-songwriter Emmet Michael is set to release his debut album I Hope You’re Home on Friday, May 28, 2021.
The single “God Shaped Hole” was inspired by Michael’s journey to living his truth while being a member of a faith community.
“Many people in the faith community–any faith community–have a hard time reconciling with the LGBTQ community,” Emmet states, in a release for the new record. “But their beliefs come from what they’ve been taught and what they’ve been told, and they somehow miss the fact that, at our core, we’re all looking for love and acceptance.”
CKUA’s Elliott Garnier spoke with Michael about the album on the Thursday, May 27th episode of Traffic Jams.
