Zaire Ink talks spoken word ahead of ‘Now Listen: A Black Poet’s Message’

Interview

Returning to the stages of Arts Commons for its second iteration, the TD Amplify Cabaret series presents Now Listen: A Black Poet’s Message.

The cabaret presentation, curated by poet Jae Sterling, aims to reflect on the prairie experience of Black artists and celebrate their creative accomplishments. Focusing on spotlighting the new generation of Black poets, Now Listen: A Black Poet’s Message features spoken word and musical performances from a variety of local artists. Among the artists performing is Zimbabwe-born rapper (and former ICAI Artist of the Month) KTheChosen. Also presenting is spoken word artist Priscille Bukasa, R&B musician Uyemi, and hip-hop artist Zaire Ink.

CKUA’s Grant Stovel recently caught up with Zaire Ink to share some career highlights thus far.
