Hannah Georgas on her album Imprints

Interview

Out on International Women’s Day 2019, Hannah Georgas’ new EP, Imprints, finds her interpreting songs by women: songs that shaped her life, and put her on a path to becoming a musician herself. She put her own spin on songs by the Eurythmics, Tegan & Sara, Janet Jackson and The Cranberries. She also sought out different female collaborators on each track: Tamara Lindeman from The Weather Station, Montaigne, Emily King, and Holly Laessig & Jess Wolfe from the band Lucius.

Hannah chatted with CKUA’s Grant Stovel about how these songs have inspired and sustained her over the years; how she pulled in like-minded musicians to collaborate; plus how she’s celebrating International Women’s Day by sharing a playlist of some of her favourite female and non-binary artists.
