Many Albertans will remember the late, great Gene Zwozdesky as a leader and a champion of the Alberta community. He passed away in 2019, but he left behind a profound legacy which includes a highly distinguished, decades-long career working in Alberta politics. However, long before his years in public office, his career in public service began in the arts sphere.
A very special celebration of his contributions to the Alberta music, arts, and culture community takes place this Sunday, September 17th, at Edmonton’s Jubilee Auditorium. Gene Zwozdesky: The Man and His Music features a wide array of internationally-celebrated artists, ranging from Ukrainian dance company Shumka to jazz pianist John Stetch.
Ariana Whitlow is an Alberta musician who’s the producer of this star-studded show, and she also happens to be Gene Zwozdesky’s daughter. She recently spoke with CKUA’s Grant Stovel on Alberta Morning.
