Sometimes, even if you make your living in sound, you need a break from the constant waves of audio. Steve Dierkens knows this well. He’s a recording technician, producer, mixer, and mastering engineer from LA. He’s worked on everything from award-winning films such as Tarzan and Anchorman to albums by Ellen Doty and Hello Darlins.
But Steve traded the city hustle for wide-open skies: a farmhouse, a patch of land, and a refurbished studio in Priddis, Alberta. Out there, among the cows and the quiet, he’s found a space that nourishes both wellness and creativity. Kate Stevens caught up with him on the farm, where the fresh air, peaceful landscape, and slow rhythms aren’t just good for the mind, they’re helping inspire creativity every day.
