The India Film Festival of Alberta takes place across the province from September 1-30, 2021 with in-person events in Edmonton (Sept 3-5), Calgary (Sept 10-12), Fort McMurray (Sept 18-19), and Sherwood Park (Sept 24 & 26).
This year’s films are presented in multiple venues across different cities in Alberta and range from theatrical experiences in locals cinemas, to an IMAX screen and outdoor screenings. The 2021 program is a mix of contemporary works from new, talented directors, as well as classics from master directors.
Ajitpal Singh is the Director of Fire in the Mountains, one of the biggest titles at this year’s festival. Singh is a rising superstar in Indian film. On Traffic Jams on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, CKUA’s Tony King spoke with the writer and director about the debut of his first feature film, which focuses on a mother saving to build a road in a Himalayan village to take her wheelchair-bound son for physiotherapy.
