Finding Harmony: The Therapeutic Art of Guitar Making with Steve Rozitis

Notes on Wellness

Ever wonder how the world’s favorite instrument is made? For Steve Rozitis, crafting guitars isn’t just about precision and skill—it’s a form of mindfulness and a therapeutic escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Steve Rozitis, born in Vancouver in 1985 and moving to Calgary in 1999, discovered his passion for guitar at 15 when he found his mother’s old Yamaha acoustic. By 17, he was performing and teaching guitar in his neighborhood. After working various jobs and traveling, he pursued guitar repair at Fretworks in 2007. He quickly became known for his precision fretwork, handling most of the shop’s instruments.

Steve’s journey from a teenage guitar enthusiast who stumbled upon his mom’s acoustic guitar to a seasoned luthier at his own shop R guitars, is a perfect blend of creativity and well-being. Making guitars, for Steve, is more than a job—it’s a way to find harmony in life.
