Alberta Music and the Alberta Media Production Industries Association (AMPIA), in collaboration with the Edmonton Arts Council, announced the winners of the 2021 Edmonton Film Prize & Edmonton Music Prize on Tuesday
In the Film category Kyle Armstrong and Blake McWilliam took home first prize with their feature length film entitled The Hands That Bind starring Bruce Dern.
Emmet Michael picked up the Edmonton Music Prize for his delicate observations on life as a transgender artist. This young Edmonton based singer/songwriter has released a couple of albums, most recently I Hope You’re Home. Recently Tony King spoke with Emmet Michael about a life’s journey that saw him raised in a strict religious environment to seeking a metamorphosis through music. As he says, “from hiding to healing.”
