For the last five years running Ellen Doty has written a song with another Alberta artist that captures the spirit of the season in its many mixed blessings.

This year she has written and recorded a piece entitled Glad You’re Here with Calgary based artist TAYLR.

The song was released today, but in atypical fashion, this is not about the artists, it’s about giving back to those less fortunate.

In collaboration with Calgary’s Monogram Coffee, who roasts a blend named after the song, and donates $5 from each bag sold to The Mustard Seed; each bag also comes with a free download of the song.

To make the pot even a little sweeter, literally, Made By Marcus uses the coffee to create a delicious flavour of ice cream and they donate portion of the proceeds from the sale of that flavour to the cause.

Tony King spoke with Ellen about where the seed was planted for this worthwhile endeavour and asked her about the subtle taste notes involved in blending music, coffee and ice cream.
