Dan Clapson succeeds in taking The Blue Jay Sessions online

Interview

Calgary-based writer Dan Clapson is a co-organizer of the independent music showcase, The Blue Jay Sessions.

Last year, he founded and helped organize a local singer-songwriter showcase ahead of the Canadian Country Music Awards that were being held in Calgary. It proved so popular that he decided to do these showcases semi-regularly at The Oak Tree Tavern.

The Blue Jay Sessions brought together up ‘n’ coming country and roots musicians, and in March, Dan brought the event to Saskatoon for the Junos… However, the Junos were cancelled due to coronavirus concerns and the Oak Tree Tavern closed down. Dan decided to take the Blue Jay Sessions online, here’s his conversation with CKUA’s Lisa Wilton.

The Blue Jay Virtual Sessions happens weekly, every Wednesday at 2PM (MDT). Each week features a new line-up of 4 Canadian singer-songwriters who take turns telling stories and singing original songs. On Wednesday, April 22nd, the 6th Blue Jay’s Session will feature Ryan Lindsay, Krissy Feniak, and Saskatchewan singers Jordyn Pollard, and Brody Siebert.
