Cooking with Family: More Health Benefits Than Just Nourishment!

Notes on Wellness

Food has always been more than just sustenance; it’s a powerful force that brings us together, fostering connections and nurturing our souls. Cooking with family transforms simple ingredients into a feast for the senses, creating memories that last a lifetime.

Julie Van Rosendaal is a chef, author and mom and she says this shared activity not only strengthens familial bonds but also teaches valuable life skills and traditions Her passion began at a young age; her mother loves to recount how, at three years old, Julie asked when she could start cooking for herself. Her mom replied that she could cook once she could read a recipe, which led young Julie to learn how to read by poring over cookbooks.

Julie’s fascination with the kitchen has only grown since then. She now writes about food and teaches others not to fear it. She has always been interested in the culture of home cooking—what people prepare daily to nourish themselves and their loved ones. Over the years, Julie has absorbed knowledge from countless people, teaching classes for 20 years and gaining hands-on experience in cheese shops, delis, bakeries, and restaurants. She even ran her own catering business and bakery.
