Andrew Shaver and Eva Foote first met on the set of the stage adaptation of the film Once in Montreal. Both are accomplished theatre actors, so it was only natural for this to be how they crossed paths.
Andrew directed the production, while Eva played one of the lead roles. After the show–and a horrible break-up–Andrew found himself in need of a reset. A reset that landed him in Australia to help “flip his chi.” During his time there, he set about writing the songs that would eventually become the debut album for this future folk duo.
Upon returning home, Andrew asked Eva if she would like to sing with him–and thus Clever Hopes was born. Their debut album, Artefact, was released on January 20, 2022.
