Calgary musicians shine in Sunnyside

Interview

What started out as a quarantine Zoom call with family and friends has now evolved into a live concert series in Calgary’s Sunnyside Containr Park. The online series, originally dubbed “Keith’s Hootenanny“, was started by Keith Dundas as a way of cheering up his son after a workplace injury. The Zoom calls continued with many local artists joining Keith online to showcase their musical talents from their living rooms.

Although still under the umbrella of “Keith’s Hootenanny”, the event has become known as Sunnyside Summer Nights. This weekly concert series serves as a launching point for local Calgary-based artists to gain live performance experience in a professional setting.

Keith Dundas share more about the origins of the project, and the need to support local musicians, in conversation with CKUA’s Scott Zielsdorf on Thoroughfare.
