This week the Atlantic Ballet of Canada come to Airdrie, we meet the Immigration Council for Arts Innovations Artist of the Month, and Margret Atwood visits Alberta. 

Plus, The Phantom of the Opera is coming to the National Music Centre, and we’ll learn more about a benefit concert to aid Jamaica.

Pisuwin is a first-ever Wolostoq story-ballet created by the Atlantic Ballet of Canada and set to the music of Jeremy Dutcher. The Atlantic Ballet of Canada is on tour across western Canada with the only Alberta stop at Airdrie’s Bert Church Live. CKUA’s Leo Cripps chats with Co-Director and Wolastoqiyik multi-disciplinary artist, Nipahtuwet Naka Wespahtuwet (Possesom).

Calgary-based actor, singer and scriptwriter Tsz Him (Hymns) Chu is the Immigrant Council for Arts Innovations Artist of the Month for November. He joins CKUA’s Lisa Wilton to tell us more about his theatrical career and adjustment to life in Canada.

Legendary Canadian novelist Margaret Atwood is coming to Alberta as part of her ongoing book tour. Presented by Audreys Books, Atwood is set to present Book of Lives, her 2025 memoire, at the Edmonton Convention Centre. CKUA’s Tony King chats with the store manager of Audreys Books Kelly Dyer to learn more about the event.

Calgary’s National Music Centre is celebrating the 100th anniversary of Lon Chaney’s classic silent film The Phantom of the Opera, with a special screening accompanied by live organ from Chris Maric. He joins CKUA’s Kate Stevens to chat more about this special event.
