David Jay, a.k.a “The Spaniard”, is an Edmonton-based guitar virtuoso, best known for his use of live looping pedals to create complex guitar soundscapes. Jay is being honoured with the 2025 Edmonton Artists’ Trust Fund award, presented by the Edmonton Arts Council and the Edmonton Community Foundation. During World War 2, Gibson guitars were being built by women and are considered today to be some of Gibson’s best. Edmonton singer-songwriter Mallory Chipman was gifted one such guitar at a live show in Pincher Creek, Alberta. She joins CKUA’s Grant Stovel.
