This week we will find out about an Alberta tribute to Gordon Lightfoot, meet ICAI’s artist of the month, and learn how MAGDANCE 5 highlights dance performance created on the Canadian Prairie.

Plus, we will learn about events coming to Calgary’s famous Lougheed House, and hear about a new novel by Edmonton author Lisa Martin.

Youthful Alberta musician Benjamin Williams is the singer and guitarist at the centre of Picking Up the Pieces: The Songs of Gordon Lightfoot. They have shows this week in Okotoks and in Edmonton — two shows in CKUA’s Beresh Arts Den, no less! Benjamin Williams joins Grant Stovel to share the story behind what’s inspired his lifelong love of Lightfoot’s music, and what spurred this new Albertan homage to the iconic Canadian songwriter.

Rita Rebetskaya is a multidisciplinary artist with a foundation in dance and theatre, whose artistic practice focuses on building community. Rebetskaya is the June Artist of the Month for the Immigrant Council of Arts Innovation (ICAI). We’ll hear more on her artistic journey with CKUA’s Lisa Wilton.
