This week, we chat with playwright Lara Schmitz about The Starling Effect. Director Kimberley Cooper tells us about the Decidedly Jazz Danceworks production Matters of Rhythm & Harmony. Musician Mark Segger is a winner of a 2025 Edmonton Artists’ Trust Fund award.

Alberta Ballet closes their season with Notre-Dame de Paris, and artistic director Francesco Ventriglia will tell us about it. We ask Edmonton Arts Council CEO Renée Williams about the arts prizes that celebrate artists in a variety of disciplines.

Mark Segger is an Edmonton-based musician focusing on jazz, improvisation and contemporary classical music, creating concept-driven compositions that push the boundaries of sound and structure. His work has earned him the 2025 Edmonton Artists’ Trust Fund award, presented by the Edmonton Arts Council and the Edmonton Community Foundation. CKUA’s Tony King talks to Mark Segger about the award.

Twelve Edmonton-based artists are set to receive a combined $100,000 in recognition of their work in music, visual art, film and literature.
