Anna McGarrigle speaks with Terry David Mulligan

Interview

Anna McGarrigle wrote the song “Complainte Pour Ste Catherine” with Philippe Tatartcheff in 1975. It became a hit on the McGarrigles’ debut, self-titled album, and it’s now the centerpiece of a National Film Board animated short called “The Girl With the Red Beret.” The song is about the subway beneath Ste. Catherine Street in Montreal and is sung by Kate’s daughter Martha Wainwright and Anna’s daughter Lily Lanken. The short film will be screened at the Edmonton International Film Festival and the Calgary International Film Festival.

CKUA’s Terry David Mulligan recently spoke with Anna McGarrigle. Tune in to Mulligan Stew, Saturday, Sept 23 at 5pm MT to hear the full conversation, and learn more about “The Girl With the Red Beret.”
