Cam Hayden has had a lifelong love of music. After graduating from the Television Stage and Radio Arts program at SAIT in 1978, he headed back home to Edmonton to begin working as a full-time announcer and producer at Canada’s oldest public broadcaster, The CKUA Radio Network. He worked there full-time for just over 23 years until the fall of 2001, doing every shift imaginable, programming all kinds of music and producing documentaries.

Cam was honoured by the Calgary Blues Music Association with a Lifetime Achievement award in 2012 and inducted into the Edmonton Blues Hall of Fame in 2015 in the Builder category. January 2016 saw Cam receive the Blues Booster of the Year award at the Maple Blues Awards, Canada’s celebration of the blues.

What is an interesting detail you might not know about Cam?
Cam hates heights and won't go up a ladder. However, had no problem learning to fly a small plane and leaning out the window at 2000 feet!

Friday Night Blues Party
Friday Night Blues Party is three hours of blues, boogie and beyond, drawn from the incredible library of CKUA and Cam’s own collection of over 10,000 blues recordings. It is a celebration of the Blues; the people who create it, the originators of the genre; the current practitioners and the up-and-coming stars.
