Word Struck: For the Love of Words

A Gathering for Book Lovers- Where Words Unite Us!
Join fellow readers and writers for an unforgettable afternoon with the Foothills Writers Group. Immerse yourself in engaging discussions, meet inspiring authors, and interact with thought-provoking keynote speakers. Bring a friend and experience the magic of stories that connect us all.Location: Crystal Ridge Golf Club, Okotoks, Alberta9 Crystal Green Lane, Okotoks, AB T1S 0A3

Ticket prices: $25.00. (includes beverage, light snack, and door prizes). Non-refundable.

Guest Registration- 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM

Guests will be warmly greeted by a member of the Foothills Writers Group upon arrival. Each guest will receive a complimentary beverage and be guided to their seat.

Because Wakefield’s passion lies in the beauty of the spoken word, it’s the way his poetry can reach the people. During this session, Wakefield will light the creative fire within you. You will listen like you’ve never listened before. You will witness a poetry performance that you won’t soon forget.

As Calgary’s Poetry Laureate from 2022-2024, Wakefield Brewster brought the Sp

Getting Away With Murder: An Overview of the Mystery Formula

Janice won the Exporting Alberta Award and the Canadian Children’s Book Centres Seal of Approval for The Ghouls’ Night Out, her Hallowe’en chapter book for young readers.

In this workshop, Janice will offer up and explain the ingredients essential to creating the world’s favourite sort of reading material, the mystery novel. Pulling from her experience of having written two series (The Randy Craig Mysteries and The Imogene Durant Mysteries) along with her MA in detective fiction, and years of teaching, Janice can explain the essentials of the genre and demonstrate where you can make it your own.

Books will be available for sale and signing.

Table Talk Conversations-2:30- 3:00 PM

Ever wonder how a story takes shape from the spark of an idea to the pages of a published book? Join the Foothills Writers Group authors for an insightful Q&A session as they pull back the curtain on their creative journeys.

Market Place- 3:00- 4:00 PM

Looking forward to an inspiring suspense novel, historical fiction, murder mystery, heartfelt memoir, women’s fiction or engaging children’s book? After the event, move to the lower level, where authors from the Foothills Writers Group will be present to discuss their works and offer books for purchase and an author signing.

Bring a book. Take a book- 3:00- 4:00 PM (during the Market Place)

Unwrapped in mystery. Opened with delight. Guests are invited to bring a book to swap. Wrap your book in plain, brown paper. Add a summary of the book. Then swap it for a new book during the Market Place.
