Breath of Life

Saturday, March 1st

Breath of Life
Presented by Vocal Alchemy
Jordan Van Biert and Britney Huynh, conductors
with Chronos Vocal Ensemble and orchestra

“The Breath of Life” is Dan Forrest’s evocative reflection on breath, representing life, spirit, and the spark of the divine in humanity. Written for choir and an orchestra including strings, piano, organ, percussion and electronics, this large work features both contemporary poetry and scriptural text.

Vocal Alchemy welcomes Chronos Vocal Ensemble, who have joined VA for major performances with orchestra for a decade. The two choirs have performed Dan Forrest’s Requiem for the Living together with orchestra in both 2019 and 2022, and audiences have been deeply affected by the choirs’ performances of the composer’s music.

The program also features music of Ola Gjeilo, and multiple Canadian composers including John Estacio, Edward Enman and Matthew Emery.

Tickets: $28 at the door, $25 advance (available now online and through choir members). Students $15.

A two-concert ticket bundle is also available online for the remaining concerts of the choir’s season.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
