Verses with Veterans: Poetry Reading

Monday, November 11th

On November 11, we pause in remembrance of the more than 118,000 Canadians who have died serving our country and the more than two million Canadians who have served, and continue to serve in times of war, conflict, and peace.

Join us at the Royal Alberta Museum on Remembrance Day at 1:00 p.m. as we welcome poet Dorothy Lowrie, daughter of George Aitken AFC, as she remembers her father’s service. Aitken served as a fighter pilot in the RCAF during the Second World War. Hear poems written by both father and daughter and view some of Aitken’s personal objects that are now part of our Military and Government History collection.

The event is free with admission to the Museum. All ages are welcome, but due to content, it is recommended for teens and older.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
