Union Duke with Magnolia Buckskin

The evening will start with sweet bluegrass and wind into an energetic foot-stomping, banjo-rambling, guitar-wailing mixture of folk, rock, country, and bluegrass!
Hailing from Toronto, Union Duke is two fifths country, two fifths city, and one fifth whiskey. The quintet composed of Ethan Smith, Jim McDonald, Matt Warry-Smith, Will Staunton and Rob McLaren have a sound that is a mixture of folk, rock, country, and bluegrass, and they blend these sounds perfectly.
Opening the evening will be Calgary’s own Magnolia Buckskin (Kathy Cook, Natasha Sayer and Corry Ulan). Featuring gorgeous three-part harmonies with a range of instrumentation, they bring years of friendship, humour and love of music to the stage, telling stories that evoke a panorama of human experiences.
The Saturday Night Special Concert Series is a presentation of The Chinook Musical Society.
We are a volunteer run, non profit music society in Calgary, that presents 9 live music concerts each year since 1976 (49 years and counting!), featuring a range of genres from folk and country, to blues, Celtic and folk rock. We showcase acts from all over North America, and some international, but we are especially proud to showcase our Canadian and local Alberta artists.
The evening starts with one set from our opening artist, followed by two sets from our headliner. That’s three sets of incredible music in a relaxed, intimate setting.
The Braeside Community Centre offers more than enough free parking, fantastic acoustics, clear sightlines and no seat further than 45 feet from the centre of the stage.
Affordable prices for food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and only $35 per ticket.
