The Western Thistles Album Release Show

Saturday, April 5th

Join Edmonton-based folk duo The Western Thistles for an intimate evening of storytelling, harmony, and timeless acoustic sound as they celebrate the release of their self-titled debut album.

Rooted in traditional folk, country, and old-time music, The Western Thistles blend rich vocal harmonies, rhythm guitar, and clawhammer banjo to create an authentic and evocative sound. Known for their heartfelt lyrics and organic live performances, the duo’s music reflects the working-class experience and the beauty of everyday life.

Kicking off the night is Orvald Wayne, an emerging country act from Edmonton. Steeped in Alberta’s landscapes and small-town spirit, their songs capture raw emotion, from foot-stomping anthems to soul-stirring ballads.

At this special album release show, you’ll hear The Western Thistles’ debut record performed front to back, accompanied by Don Marcotte on upright bass and Braden Gates on fiddle!

Doors: 7:00 pm
Music: 8:00 pm

Physical copies of The Western Thistles’ debut album will be available on CD and Vinyl

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
