The Janzen Boys

The Janzen Boys, a folk roots trio from Winnipeg, Canada, began their musical journey in 2012 after moving home from Japan. What started as a casual busking venture at the Forks market quickly blossomed into a family band with a unique harmony-driven sound. After they won a showcase spot in the University of Winnipeg’s Uniter Fiver contest, their first non-street performance was at the iconic West End Cultural Centre. This momentum propelled their debut EP, Roads, into radio rotation across Manitoba and set the stage for their Western Canada Busking Roadie, which took them from Winnipeg to Kelowna.

In 2015, The Janzen Boys collaborated with producer JP Laurendeau to record Roads, featuring the musical prowess of Ariel Posen and Ryan Voth from The Bros. Landreth. Their distinct folk-country sound and family harmonies garnered them invitations to notable festivals, including Dauphin’s Country Fest, Festival du Voyageur, and Trout Forest Music Festival, sharing stages with acclaimed artists like Home Free, John Muirhead, and Joshua Hyslop.

​After a successful showcase at the Manitoba Arts Network Emerging Artists series in 2018, demand for performances grew, leading them to record at Paintbox Studio with the Moonrise Music duo, Lloyd Peterson and Rusty Matyas.
