The Harpoonist (trio)

Saturday, April 18th

Known to family, friends and hardcore fans as Shawn Hall. A harpoon/harmonica/harp virtuoso with a couple of decades in the hardcore blues-based rock and roll trenches. D’you remember The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer?

Well, Hall’s turned a new leaf. Harpoonist — Hall’s non-de-plume and the name of the band — is something else again.
New songs. New record. New gritty, tough-assed swamp music with edge and off-the-wall lyrics. More importantly, new musical partner-in-crime Big Sugar’s Gordie Johnson.
The Harpoonist will be touring in support of his newly released solo album,
“Did We Come Here to Dance”.
Scheduled for release on October 4, 2024 via Tonic Records, the album is Hall’s first following a 17-year partnership with Matt Rogers, the other half of the duo The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer. Consisting of eight original songs, as well as a cover of Fred Eaglesmith’s “Trucker Speed,” Did We Come Here to Dance is an eclectic and playful mix of blues, jazz, soul and funk.

The Harpoonist will be touring as a trio, expect a high energy show!

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
