The Charms

Saturday, January 17th

A small venue concert at the Rocky Mountain Listening Room with dynamic husband-and-wife duo – The CHARMS! An intimate “in-the-round” with The CHARMS and two spotlight songwriters Craig McIvor and Taylor Lang.

Country Music Albertas 2025 Horizon Group of the Year Nominee, The CHARMS are husband & wife duo Meg & Denis Dufresne. The 2 are celebrated and award-winning vocalists and instrumentalists, both playing violin, mandolin and guitar. Together, they cover a wide range of popular music in the instrumental style of Bridgerton while also covering an extensive amount of original and remakes of Roots/Canadiana vocal music.

Both have toured the world separately and together, playing command performances for His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales, the Saudi Royal Family, the Prince of Monaco, the Duke and Duchess Will and Kate and several Canadian Prime Ministers.

Denis moved on and became Canadas 7x Country Music (CCMA) Fiddle, Mandolin and Banjo Player of the Year between 2011 and 2022. Megan has performed on stages around the globe as a featured violinist in Dubai, Monaco, Canada and the USA for Bollywood, film and live.

Both Denis and Megan were original members and creators of the world violin group Barrage and The Calgary Fiddlers. They travelled the globe extensively as spokespeople and featured performers playing fiddle, mandolin, guitar and piano. They were played on every PBS station across North America in Barrage, The World on Stage.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
