The 10th Annual Vagina Monologues
The Werklund School of Education is proud to present the 10th Annual production of The Vagina Monologues. Performance is 7:30pm March 22, 2024 at the Calgary Central Library. All ticket proceeds go to Awo Taan Indigenous Women’s Healing Lodge.
The Vagina Monologues was created by Eve Ensler in 1996 as a collection of thoughts, observations, and personal stories that originated from her own life as well as a vast number of women she interviewed. The monologues have evolved over the years, with new content and new voices. This local Calgary production, has expanded this work to incorporate not only the voice talents of women from all walks of life, but to add to the monologues with truths from their own experiences.
“The show was conceived by women for women to perform, discussing different ways of being a woman and the difficulties that often occur just being a woman,” Shirley Steinberg, director.
Angela Grace, co-director, adds,”It is truly humbling to hear women’s authentic stories in such a powerful performance.”
Partially sponsored by the Werklund School of Education, The Vagina Monologues seeks to entertain and educate, to celebrate our unique differences and reinforce that we (women) are not alone. Audiences can expect to laugh, cry, and feel connected to what it’s like in a woman’s shoes.
Local artists and craftspersons will also be on site vending thematically empowering wares.
