A message from BTT:
Beyond The Trees is the brain child of April Keighan [She/Her]. She has over 15 years of dedicated service in the camping industry, coupled with a background as a Primary Care Paramedic. April stands together with the 2SLGBTQ+ community, while providing compassion, and unwavering commitment to fostering inclusive and transformative experiences for children and youth. As the driving force behind Beyond The Trees, April has tirelessly worked to create a sanctuary where young hearts can flourish amidst the splendor of nature. At Beyond The Trees, every child is not just welcomed but celebrated for their unique essence.
Our nature-based summer camp programs, catering to ages 5-17, offer a rich tapestry of experiences ranging from canoeing adventures to immersive outdoor education, all interwoven with the threads of creativity through crafts. However, what truly sets Beyond The Trees apart is its spiritual component, encouraging campers to forge profound connections with themselves, others, and the natural world that envelops them.
Of particular note is year 3 of “Born This Way” camp. In this nurturing environment, the staff has created a program that blends old-fashioned camp traditions with a sprinkling of queer-centric activities. BTT has crafted a space where 2SLGBTQ+ children and youth can revel in their identities without fear or reservation. Recognizing the heightened need for support in these turbulent times, this initiative embodies Beyond The Trees’ unwavering commitment to fostering belonging and empowerment.
