Songwriting Workshop – Lynn Miles

Thursday, October 23rd

Join Songwriting Royalty Juno Award winner and 6 x Canadian Folk Music Award winner, Lynn Miles for an insight into her craft. Flashes of inspiration are rare, mysterious, fleeting and sacred. Well talk about how to encourage these lightning bolts to arrive more often, how to capture them, and how to use them to bring a song into the world. My favourite way of songwriting is to write from the title. I do this by grabbing the gift of the lightning bolt and using it as my starting point for the rest of the song. Once the lighting stops, the real journey beginsWell talk about power structures in rhyming patterns, verses, bridges, and choruses.

By signing up for a workshop you are also eligible to apply to perform with Lynn Miles at the Rocky Mountain Listening Room on September 26. This is event 1 of 7 songwriting workshops hosted by the Rocky Mountain Listening Room for the 2025-2026 season. For more details visit rockyfolkclub.com. Note: Workshops location is different from the concert location however they all fall under the Rocky Mountain Listening Room.

Season passes are available 7 workshops for the price of 6 from the Rocky Mountain Listening Room Series.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
