Sid Marty & Wailback

Thursday, November 6th

$35 in advance, $45 at the door (+service fees and tax)

Sid is a singer/guitarist performing original songs about western Canada at various venues and on radio. He is also a writer and poet. His most recent book of poetry “Old Man’s River – New & Collected Poems” won the inaugural Al and Eurithe Purdy Poetry Prize in 2024. He has teamed up with Alberta musicians Jim McLennan (lead guitar) and James Van Leeuwen (vocals and acoustic guitar) who are renowned musicians in their own rights. Wailback, based in Pincher Creek, concentrates on original songs about Alberta, featuring well-aged cowboys, crazy weather, despairing lovers, mountaineers, poets and some charismatic megafauna – as well as the common snipe and miscellaneous other critters.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
