Sid Marty and Wallback

Friday, October 25th

Headline performer for the evening will be the southern Alberta group Wailback, led by Sid Marty. Sid is a singer/guitarist performing original songs about western Canada. He is also a writer and poet.  He has teamed up with Alberta musicians Jim McLennan and James Van Leeuwen who are renowned musicians in their own rights. Wailback, based in Pincher Creek, concentrates on original songs about Alberta, featuring well-aged cowboys, crazy weather, despairing lovers, mountaineers, poets and some charismatic megafauna.

Opening the evening will be Lilybelle – sisters Kate, Jessica and Victoria Pereversoff. Their love of folk music has grown and developed over the years. Kate and Jessica are past members of local group Seven Fiddlesworth, with Jessica going on to join the Calgary Fiddlers. Their sets consist of lively fiddle tunes, traditional folk songs, and a few originals.

Doors open at 7 pm, show starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets online at https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/6347185 are $25 plus fee, or $30 at the door.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
